Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy
At eIOU, we believe privacy is a fundamental right. Our protocol is designed from the ground up to protect your financial privacy while enabling trusted peer-to-peer transactions.
Data Collection
How Data Collection Works
Important: eIOU is a decentralized protocol. Each Docker node operates independently and collects its own data. The eIOU organization does not have access to data on individual nodes unless we operate that specific node ourselves.
What Each Node Collects
- Transaction Data: Minimum necessary information for processing eIOU transactions (sender, receiver, amount, timestamp)
- Network Data: IP addresses and node identifiers for network routing purposes
- Optional Profile Data: Name and contact information you choose to share with your trusted peers
What the eIOU Organization Doesn't Have Access To
- Data on nodes we don't operate
- Your private transaction history (unless you're using our operated nodes)
- Personal identification from third-party nodes
- Browsing history or tracking cookies
- Third-party analytics or advertising data
Your Data, Your Control: When you run your own Docker node, all data remains under your complete control. We cannot access, view, or modify data on nodes we don't operate.
How Data Is Used
Data on each node is used exclusively for:
- Processing and routing eIOU transactions within the network
- Maintaining network integrity and preventing fraud
- Enabling peer-to-peer trust relationships
- Recording transaction history for that specific node
For nodes operated by eIOU: We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve protocol efficiency and provide customer support when requested.
Data Storage & Security
Decentralized by Design: The eIOU protocol operates on a decentralized network. Transaction data is stored across multiple nodes, with each participant maintaining their own transaction history.
Encryption: All data transmissions are encrypted end-to-end. Your private keys remain under your sole control.
No Central Database: We do not maintain a central database of user information or transaction histories.
Tor & Anonymous Usage
eIOU fully supports and encourages the use of Tor for enhanced privacy. Our protocol is designed to work seamlessly over the Tor network, allowing you to transact without revealing your IP address.
Data Sharing
We never sell, rent, or trade your information. Data sharing is limited to:
- Peer-to-Peer Network: Transaction data necessary for routing payments through the network
- Legal Requirements: Only when required by valid legal process, and we will notify you unless prohibited by law
- Your Explicit Consent: When you specifically authorize sharing for a particular purpose
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your transaction history from your node
- Export your data in standard formats
- Delete your node and associated data at any time
- Operate anonymously using Tor or similar privacy tools
- Refuse optional data collection
Children's Privacy
eIOU is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify the community of any material changes through our official channels and update the "Last Updated" date above.
